About First Baptist Church of City Point

First Baptist Church of City Point is a small church located in Hopewell, VA. Our beliefs are based on the Bible and centered on Jesus Christ. Our mission is very simple: to lead people to follow Jesus Christ. That means we’re not about a building or some complicated religious system, but about helping people from all backgrounds discover the joy that comes from knowing and serving Jesus Christ.

We invite you to come and check us out this weekend! Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, we have been meeting on Zoom.com for Church School, Morning Worship, and Wednesday Bible Study. We know that going to a new church can be intimidating, especially while we cannot physically gather together, so we try to do things in a way where you’ll feel welcome and not like an outsider. When you join us, we encourage you to participate, but you can just sit back and observe if you prefer.  Either way you’ll discover a warm atmosphere, practical teaching from God's Word and caring people pursuing God together! 

God made a promise in the Bible that if we seek after Him, we’ll find Him. You are a valued part of God’s creation and His deep desire is to be in a relationship with you. So we welcome you whenever we are in service!

Faith

We believe that Jesus is Lord! He died for our sins and was resurrected on the third day!  "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." ~ II Corinthians 5:21 NIV.  We have hope in our struggles with the issues of life because, according to our foundational scripture at FBCCP, "I [We] can do all things through Christ who strengthens me [us]." ~ Philippians 4:13.

Family

At First Baptist Church of City Point we value "family" and we believe church should be an important place for people of all ages and stages. Every second Sunday we provide children's ministries immediately following our regular services on Zoom. This monthly youth engagement provides an age-appropriate environment for kids to encounter and share Christ.

Leadership

First Baptist Church of City Point is guided by our Pastor, Rev. Rudolph Randall, who provides overall direction and watches over the spiritual needs of the church. Our pastor provides sound, practical, biblical teaching at each worship service. He has received theological and pastoral training and is equipped to share God's love with everyone. First Baptist Church of City Point is blessed to have a leader who is truly dedicated to Christ and obeying His will.
